Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know

How do I store my microgreens and for how long?

That's easy! The freshly harvested Microgreens/Sprouts will be packed dry in a Ziplock bag inside your package. All you have to do when you receive your order, is take out the ziplock bag and put it in your refrigerator immediately. Refrigerators are designed to eliminate any moisture from the space, keeping food dry and fresh. As long as the greens are dry and in the fridge at all times, they will stay fresh for upto 10 days.
Every time you want to use them in your meal, put the ziplock bag back into the fridge where it belongs.

How long does it take to deliver my order?

It takes 1-2 days to deliver Daily Harvest items as there are ready to be harvested and consumed. This applies for consumers in Tirupur. For consumers in Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and Mettupalayam, please PRE-Order your choices. This will help us co-ordinate deliveries in areas away from Tirupur which is the location of the farm.
Please allow us a grow duration of 4-10 days until harvest, depending on the type of greens you choose.

How must I consume the microgreens and sprouts?

Microgreens are so small and flavourful, you could just sprinkle them on your daily meals such as Dosa, Upma, Kichdi, Chutney, Gravy, Sandwich, Roll, Salads in your plate and eat them as usual. It is the same as garnishing a dish with coriander leaves, basil leaves or methi. If your children don't prefer them, simply take a bunch, chop them up finely, toss it into the dish and mix it up. They won't ever know there are microgreens in the dish! You can add them in your dish any way your like, just don't cook them!

Should I cook the microgreens/sprouts?

Microgreens are meant to be eaten RAW. Don't worry, they actually taste good!
They should be eaten raw because cooking them would destroy all the precious nutrients in them. Only by eating them raw would you be getting all the nutrients that they are packed with. So, if you want to add them in your curries, make sure your curry is done and gas turned off before you add them.
Remember, microgreens are best used as garnish on top of any dish.

As for Sprouts, they too are often eaten raw like in a salad, but it okay to cook them for a few seconds.
Some people don't find it easy to eat sprouts raw as they are sometimes unpalatable (unpleaseant to taste).
In this case, blanching the sprouts for less than a minute will not only make them pleasing to eat, but also taste great with an effortless crunch mixed with sauces, oils and such condiments. Suddenly you will find yourself enjoying the delicious food and wanting more!

Blanching is, cooking sprouts in boiling water for only 50 seconds. No more than 50 seconds later, strain them and toss them into cold/room-temperature water to cool them down. The cool water bath will stop the sprouts from losing their crunchiness due to heat. The crunchiness makes the dish even more delicious!

Microgreens like Green Pea Shoots are sometimes unpalatable too to some people. So, blanching them like sprouts is a great way to enjoy them. Or simply toss them in your hot soup bowl and they get blanched!
Green Pea Shoots are best eaten in a stir fry where they are cooked in a flash and when eaten with other condiments, taste great!

What Quantity of microgreens can I take in a meal?

25 grams of Microgreens is an ideal quantity in one meal. If that is too much for you, just grab a tiny bunch that you think you don't mind taking in combination with your daily meals and sprinkle on top or mix it up in the curry.
We recommend that you sprinkle some in every meal everyday and make Microgreens/Sprouts a default addition in your meals daily as this is the best way to feed your body the nutrients it needs.

Mindful Eating plays a crucial role in Holistic Health and Healing.
Whatever it is that you are eating right now, don't forget to grab that superPlant Box from the fridge, add some Microgreens and then start your meal, as this may be the only healthy nutritious thing you are actually eating! That's the least you could do for your body that works so hard for your daily routine.
